Fire sprinkler systems can save lives and claims on your Alabama home insurance

The National Association of Fire Builders reports that most insurers will offer a discount for homeowners who install a fire sprinkler system. Of course, the decision to install fire sprinklers is not primarily about saving money on your Alabama home insurance rates, it’s about preventing serious damage and saving lives in the case of a house fire. 

The value of fire sprinklers is their immediacy. There is a much greater chance of lives being saved and the house kept intact if there is an instantaneous response to a fire. This is especially the case in areas that do not have a fire department nearby. A sprinkler system may extinguish a fire before firefighters arrive at your home.

Even homes that are not connected to a public water supply can have fire sprinklers. A home can be fitted with a tank to store the water required by the system. Sprinklers can also be retrofitted to old homes.

Sprinklers can be so effective because they work automatically. You don’t have to operate them manually like you have to a fire extinguisher. Also, because they respond so quickly, they can drastically reduce the potential damage to your home and of course, the risk of personal injury.

The less severe the damage, the easier the process of filing an Alabama home insurance claim could be. For instance, a sprinkler system could save you from having to look elsewhere to live temporarily. A “Class A” sprinkler system may save you about 10 per cent on your insurance, but it can also save lives.
